Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance to guarantee your spot. Tours sell out quickly! Get information, check availability, and buy tickets online. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted.
Is there an age minimum for the tours?
Tours are designed for guests of all ages, but to ensure everyone has a good time, anyone with small children should contact us. Generally, if alcohol is served, guests must be 21 or older. Please see the individual tour descriptions for complete details.
If a tour is sold out can I get on a waiting list?
Unfortunately, there are no waiting lists for our tours. Tours are offered several times every week, so please check another date and time for availability.
What happens if it rains?
The tours will take place in all light weather conditions. In rare circumstances such as a heavy snow storm, a hurricane, or other extreme weather when the tour venues can't open, the tour would be canceled. All you would have to do is rebook your tour.
I will be driving into the city, where do you recommend I park?
Since it can be difficult to find street parking, we recommend parking in a garage or lot. There are several garages and lots on Sansom Street (which is between Walnut and Chestnut Streets) between 12th and 18th Streets. These parking areas are convenient to the starting locations for several of our tours.
What places will we go on the tour?
We will be visiting family-owned shops specializing in delicious, handmade foods. We'll keep you off the tourist path and introduce you to some of Philly's hidden gems. Please see tour description for more details.
How much food will I eat on the tour?
Many of our tours include plenty of food for a meal, but if a tour takes place between meal times, it's usually not intended to be a meal. Check individual tour descriptions for details.
Will I be able to drink anything on the tour?
Some tours include beverages, but bring a water bottle if you like.
How long is the tour?
Length of tours vary, but last between 2 and 3 hours.
Is there a lot of walking on the tour?
Depending on the tour, the walking will cover between 0.5 and 1.5 miles (10-30 minutes total walking). We walk at a very leisurely pace and include several stops. Certain tours also include some periods of standing.
Will I learn about Philadelphia on your tours?
Yes. Our guides have lived in Philly for years! They will incorporate fun facts about the neighborhood you are touring, history, and architecture as well. The best part is that our guides will share personal stories about the city that you won't find anywhere else.
I live in the city. Is the tour still good for me?
Absolutely! On our tours you will explore hidden places that you probably don’t know about and learn many new things about food. You will see some of the coolest spots in the city and experience your hometown in a totally new way.
What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
We are happy to accommodate vegetarians, dietary restrictions, and special needs. Please make a note when purchasing your tickets. We'll do everything we can to accommodate limitations.
City Food Tour and event participants are responsible for all the food and beverages they consume. If you have any allergies or concerns about ingredients please ask your guide or event leader before consuming anything.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Many of the stops on our tour are wheelchair accessible, while some are not. However, we encourage anyone in a wheelchair to come on the tour, and we will make any necessary accommodations.
Do you have private tours?
Yes, we do offer private tours. Click here to learn more about Private Group Packages.
